The award ceremony brought together, during an official business dinner, business leaders from the most important French companies in India present in the sectors of aerospace, defence, mobility, energy and consumer goods. More than 100 applications were received from India and France for the Indo-French Business Awards 2022. The jury was made up of French-Indian business leaders selected by the French Embassy in India and the Conseil d’ IFCCI administration including CEOs from various industries.
With more than 1,000 French establishments already present in India (ranging from multinationals to SMEs), France made a cumulative investment of $9.86 billion between April 2000 and June 2021, i.e. 1.80% of total investment flows. FDI in India. 39 of the largest French companies listed on the Euronext Paris stock exchange (the CAC 40) have activities in India and French companies established in India employ more than 300,000 people. Similarly, there are approximately 200 subsidiaries of Indian companies established in France which employ more than 6,000 people.
France is one of India’s main scientific partners, with more than 25 French R&D centers, 15 Indo-French joint research laboratories and 500 collaborative projects in the country. It is also partnering with India to develop Chandigarh, Puducherry and Nagpur as smart cities, with a commitment of over $2.2 billion for this project.
India and France are also cooperating in the field of renewable energy with a view to developing technological know-how and thus contributing to the achievement of the ambitious target of 450 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030.
